Professional Cleaning Industry Trends in 2024

By Chris Ackley

1.Cost Increases: Just about every sector of the cleaning industry has been hit by inflation, supply chain issues, increased energy costs, and wage increases, which have all led to an increase in costs for end users of all types of cleaning services. Cleaning companies will need to innovate and get creative in order to provide the same or similar levels of service as customers demand continue to demand more for less.
2.Advanced Technology: Professional cleaning companies will begin to utilize more robotic cleaning technology as it becomes available and affordable, which will improve efficiency, quality and availability. An increase in the difficulty of staffing and increased sustainability standards will finally necessitate the mass adoption of these robotic technologies.
3.Green Cleaning: Sustainability and social responsibility will continue to demand higher credentialed cleaning products that reduce environmental impact. From waste reduction to product reuse to an emphasis on product durability, companies will be focusing on these key areas in an effort to remain “green.”
4.Staffing Shortages: Post-pandemic work engagement in the cleaning industry has been slow to rebound. Companies will need to create a more positive perception of cleaning work by offering training, professional development and opportunities for upward mobility for its staff, as well as improving their physical and mental well-being by providing better cleaning products, equipment and techniques.
